Bill Laffey
Bill Laffey was living what many would consider an ideal life. Raised in a loving church-going family, the oldest of three children, Bill was a happy young man. He met the love of his life while they worked together at a fast-food restaurant, and they were married several years later. Bill and his wife, Tena, would go on to move to their first home in Tinton Falls, raise two wonderful children, and become fixtures in the community. Bill was on the Board of Education and the town's first Little League President. Simply put, Bill thought he had it all. But he didn't have Jesus.
At 37 years of age, Bill read for the first time the loving warnings of Jesus Christ found in the Book of Matthew: There is a wide road that leads to destruction, and many find it, and there is a narrow road that leads to life, and only a few find it. Despite how blessed his life was, Bill realized he was living on the wide road that was taking him away from Jesus he grew up learning about. If he didn't make a change, Bill realized he would be eternally separated from God. With a thankful and repentant heart, Bill rededicated his life to Jesus. He considers that decision to be the best choice he has ever made in his life.
Bill wants to reach people who are living the way he was: loving life but not making God their priority. He considers this his "mission field." His first book, The Narrow Road, is a collection of short stories about our need to heed the merciful warnings of Jesus. His desire is that all who read this book will commit their lives to Jesus Christ so that one day they will hear these loving words of our Lord: Well done, good and faithful servant.
